The Decalogue Society of Lawyers

Justice, Justice Shall You Pursue

Welcome to the new website for The Decalogue Society of Lawyers. For over eighty years, Decalogue has supported Jewish lawyers and the legal community in Chicago and throughout Illinois. Our improved website provides better tools and information to serve our communities. We have quite a bit planned so come back often to see all that Decalogue has to offer!

The Decalogue Society of Lawyers was proud to join Governor J.B. Pritzker, Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, Judge William Haddad (Ret.), Elana Kahn, Executive Director of the Illinois Commission on Discrimination and Hate Crimes, and our friends and colleagues who are leaders in the Muslim and Arab legal communities this morning at the Arab American Bar Association of Illinois’ press conference condemning recent hate crimes against Jews, Arabs and Muslims. We are committed to continuing to work and stand together to ensure that hate has no home in Illinois.

The Decalogue Society of Lawyers condemns all acts of hate crimes and incidents of bias against any individual. We are appalled by the vicious and barbaric attack against Wadea Al-Fayoume and his mother. This is a tragedy. We grieve with all those affected by this heinous crime and all victims of hate crimes. We pray that good and humanity rise up from these dark times and that safety, freedom and civility shine as necessary beacons of light in a civilized society.

Decalogue Statement on the Attack Against Israel

The Decalogue Society of Lawyers stands in solidarity with our friends and family in Israel and unequivocally condemns the horrific terrorist acts committed by Hamas against Israel and its People. It is deplorable that these terrorists targeted civilians, children, and Holocaust survivors. We grieve with those who are mourning the loss of their loved ones and pray for the safe return of the hostages. We also pray for the safety of Israel and all of her people!

Professional Development

Decalogue is committed to assisting law students and its members in finding employment and internships. Come back to this page for more information about mentoring, networking and job referrals.

In the spirit of L'dor v' dor, Decalogue encourages it's experienced members to take a mentoring role with younger attorneys and law students. If you are a member (attorney or law student) who wants to be a mentor or mentee or both (attorneys with less than 5 years experience) please sign up here. Matching of mentors and mentees will occur at least once a year depending on the level of interest.  Mentors are free to sign up for more than once if they feel that they have the time and attention to do so.
